Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting Help for Haiti, United University Professions’ fundraising page to support the lifesaving mission of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that provides aid to people in some 60 countries—including Haiti—whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.

Hurricane Matthew devastated many inland and coastal communities in Haiti when it slammed into the island Oct. 4. The areas most affected are Grand'Anse, Nippes, and Sud, which was hardest hit. Nearly 550 people were killed and more than 175,000 were left homeless or were displaced by the storm, although the actual number is likely much higher. Nearly two dozen medical centers were damaged by the hurricane.

Your donations are needed to buy more medicine and vaccinations, food, water purification tablets, and medical and emergency supplies. MSF teams are the only aid workers in many stricken communities, some of which are only accessible by helicopters hired by MSF.

Your donation will be put to work immediately to deliver urgent medical care including treatment for malnutrition, emergency surgery, and lifesaving vaccinations for people in Haiti.

Thank you for your support and for getting involved. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated (and Tax deductible!)!  You can learn more about its work by visiting www.doctorswithoutborders.org.
