The Slavic Reference Service is honored to support and collaborate with Doctors Without Borders in their mission to provide aid to people in more than seventy countries whose wellbeing and survival are threatened by conflict and catastrophe. The “With Arms Wide Open - Give Across Borders” campaign aims to raise $50,000 dollars to aid in this essential mission; any amount able to be contributed is greatly appreciated and will be used to provide urgent medical care, treatment for malnutrition, emergency surgery, and vaccinations to those in need. As a reference service within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s International and Area Studies Library, the SRS is deeply rooted and involved in our campus community and culture. To involve said community in the “With Arms Wide Open - Give Across Borders” campaign, the SRS is organizing an admission-free benefit concert event to be held at Urbana’s own Rose Bowl Tavern. The concert will be held from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m., CST, on Saturday, April 30th and will feature a variety of local bands and acts performing in a range of musical styles and genres, as well as informational content designed to interface with our larger donation campaign. If you are local to the Champaign-Urbana area, please stop by and join us for an afternoon of great music as we support an essential mission and cause.
