Dearest Friends:

Most of you know that a devastating earthquake hit my home country of Turkey on February 6. The massive quake killed tens of thousands of people in Turkey and Syria, and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless, their lives and livelihoods upended in one of the worst natural disasters in a century.

I am so fortunate that my friends and family are safe, but for so many, that is not the case.

The response from countries and organizations around the world was, and continues to be, incredible.

Doctors Without Borders was helping within hours of the quake, and continues to offer a robust response. In additional to extensive medical aid, they provide displaced people shelter, blankets, food, and vital supplies to sustain affected people who have lost their homes.

For those of you in Iowa, I have organized a benefit concert on Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ, where I and many University of Iowa School of Music faculty and friends will be performing.

For friends further away, I hope you consider making a donation.

Thank you for your support and for getting involved.

Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated! (and it's tax-deductible!)

Let's make a difference together!
